about
Only 18-months ago Sydney band Food Court announced themselves with the first in a cracking trilogy of singles. The releases, ‘14 Years Young’, ‘On The River’ and ‘For The Morning’ were Aussie garage punk-rock at it’s best, and hinted at something special happening in the backyards and bedrooms of this new band. Energy, riffage and a killer live show that drew rave reviews from fans and critics alike, opening for Courtney Barnett, Dune Rats, Northeast Party House, Beach Slang and Spring King. You get the vibe.
Now, with another summer upon us, Food Court have announced a brand new single – ‘Slightest Brightest’ - from their debut album (due March 2017). The album was the final LP to be recorded by John Castle in his legendary Shed Studios – where Castle worked his magic on records from the likes of Megan Washington, Vance Joy, You Am I and more recently Jack River. ‘Slightest Brightest’ is a glorious 3-minute slice of a rock band at their best, all inner-city attitude and sharp guitars. And guitars are always coming back kids.
A kind of anti-anthem that whets your appetite for the album to follow, and will rightly maintain Food Court as one of the kings of Aussie garage rock. While the single is available digitally on December 16, Food Court will also be releasing ‘Slightest Brightest’ as a limited edition split 7” vinyl with Canadian band The Dirty Nil in celebration of their first North American tour and other exciting announcements early in 2017. The band have also been invited to play SXSW in Austin in March followed by a Canada tour.
